By The Numbers: Michelle Wie at The Solheim Cup

Jeff Newton

When Michelle Wie joined Team Callaway at the beginning of the year, she said that her main goal was to play on the US Solheim Cup team. Well, mission accomplished. The 27-year-old LPGA staffer will be one of the leaders for Team USA this week and after the year she’s had, we’re expecting a strong performance. Here are a few key numbers you need to know for Michelle this week:

This is her 5th career appearance in the Solheim Cup. She made her debut in the biennial event in 2009 and has played in each one since.

143 That’s how many spots she’s climbed in the Women’s world golf rankings this year. She’s been one of the most consistent players in the game in 2017.

9 Her current position in the Rolex Player of the Year rankings. We told you she’s having an awesome comeback year.

7 Speaking of consistency, Wie has 7 top-10 finishes on the season. Only 3 other LPGA players have more than her.

214 The number of birdies she’s made on the LPGA Tour in 2017. That aggressiveness will come in handy in the team match play event.

66 What she shot in her last competitive round at the Women’s British Open, where she made an incredible run on the way to a T3 finish.

15 The number of matches she’s played in the Solheim Cup. She’ll bring a ton of energy and experience this weekend.

#1 Michelle plays GBB Epic, the #1 selling driver in the U.S. in 2017. And as a Callaway staffer, she also plays the #1 Fairway Wood brand, #1 Iron brand, and the #1 Hybrid brand in golf. Clearly, it’s working for her.

What’s In Her Bag

Good luck, Michelle. We’ll be rooting for you!
